School Vision

Borrowdale School will be an oversubscribed school which serves the community well by providing an outstanding, inclusive learning environment, full of creative, first-hand experiences.

Pupils enjoy their education and achieve high standards through their positive attitude to learning.

Children are able to work towards their potential in a supported, safe, caring and stimulating environment.

Statement of Main Aims

In a small community such as Borrowdale the survival of the school is vital.  It acts as a focal point for the children, the parents, the Church and to all members of the local community. For the children born and/or growing up in this valley it gives a strong sense of identity which is never lost.  The fate of the school and the continuation of Borrowdale as a thriving community are interdependent, and the role of the Governors is to continue to ensure the survival and success of the school and to strengthen this bond.

The aim of the school is to engender a caring, stimulating, interesting and enjoyable educational environment, and to motivate each child to work towards achieving his or her potential.

In order to achieve this and to give each child sufficient individual attention, for the foreseeable future it is the intention of the Governors to maintain at least two full-time teaching staff, plus support assistance where deemed desirable.

We also seek to prioritise resources to maximise both the academic and social development of children being educated in this small rural community.
